Hi folks – the latest update from Athey Consulting.
I was asked to be the Interim Executive Director of Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership (a LEP) in May, and I was very pleased to accept this position for the next six months. It is exciting times in local economic development, and personally I think that there is a lot of scope to innovate and provide some new and interesting solutions to some long-standing issues.
Of course the funding environment is challenging, and we are seeing a lot of change in local and central government. Nonetheless, in our LEP we are seeing major opportunities emerge from our Growing Places Fund allocations; and the potential EZ Business Rates receipts.
Also – the LEP Network Annual Review of LEP-Area economies 2012 report that Athey Consulting researched, wrote and delivered was published in May. The report has been very well received and is actively being used by LEPs and others as part of understanding and planning for local economies.
Its been a busy 6 months here at Athey Consulting. Looking forward to taking a summer break – although I don’t think it will be too relaxing, having 2 young boys to keep entertained!!!
